W3 Conference Comes To New York City

The International World Wide Web Conference Committee (IW3C2) in conjunction with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), NYU's Center for Advanced Technology (CAT), and IBM proudly present the 13th World Wide Web Conference in New York City, May 17-22, 2004. ( www.www2004.org )

Beginning with the first international WWW Conference in 1994, this prestigious series, organized by the International World Wide Web Conference Committee (IW3C2), has provided a public forum for the WWW Consortium (W3C) through the annual W3C track.

Keynote speakers include: -

Downtown: 9-11 Memorial Ceremony at Ground Zero

On the second anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, a simple yet poignant commemorative ceremony was held at Ground Zero. Participants included Mayor Bloomberg, Gov. Pataki, Former Mayor Giuliani, uniformed service personnel and the children of 9-11 victims. The ceremony honored each victim of 9-11 by name, and gave the families of victims an opportunity to pay their respects at Ground Zero.

A Green Building Grows in Lower Manhattan: Gov. Pataki Cuts Ribbon on First New Residential Hi-Rise Since 9/11                                                   

Just a stone's throw from Ground Zero stands the Solaire, the world's first high rise residential green building. Governor George Pataki spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of this environmentally advanced building which implemented a variety of different technologies (including solar energy) to achieve a new standard of energy efficiency and air and water quality for its residents.
